April has been another tough month.
I started the month in the UK, trying to work through my fear in the peloton by racing some local crits. I then headed back to France hoping to put together a solid few weeks, but unfortunately, things didn’t go to plan. In my first race back, I was taken down less than 10km in, hitting the deck hard and damaging both myself and the bike. It made for a difficult weekend physically, and mentally it set me back, adding to the fear I’ve already been dealing with since my crash last August.
The following weekend, I lined up for a one-day federal race in the south. I focused on positioning well and staying out of trouble, and I made several attempts to get away on the climbs. I managed to open small gaps a few times, but each move was brought back, and I eventually finished mid-pack in the sprint.
Off the bike, though, this month has been really special. I’ve made some incredible memories with my teammates in the mountains, which I’m very grateful for.
On the bike, it’s still a work in progress. My confidence is taking time to rebuild, and my body isn’t quite where it should be after an interrupted winter. That said, I’ve got a solid two weeks of training ahead before a block of races I really enjoyed last year, where I had some positive performances. I’m looking forward to building on that and turning things around.
Thank you to all my sponsors for continuing to support me through the ups and downs—it truly means a lot.
