February: Turning a Corner
After a frustrating winter, February felt like a step back in the right direction.
I started the month in Calpe with a simple objective: re-establish consistent, quality training. The priority was straightforward — build proper mileage, include some intensity, and do it pain-free. For the first time in a while, I managed a full week without any issues. That was an important starting point, and from there the work began to build.
The routine in Spain helped. Over two and a half weeks, I increased the volume steadily, added intensity, and regained a sense of progression that had been missing earlier in the winter. Focusing on training, recovery, and consistency made a noticeable difference.
After a short stop at home, I travelled to southern France for our team camp. It was a productive few days. Riding together again, spending time with the staff, and working through testing gave the week real value. It was also useful to sit down with the team manager and clarify the plan for the months ahead. Having structure brings perspective, especially after a disrupted period.
The drive home gave me time to reflect, and I returned with a clear focus. The aim now is a solid block of training at home before the racing season ramps up across Europe.
The winter wasn’t ideal, but February has provided a good foundation. Training is consistent, the workload is increasing, and things are heading in the right direction.
Onwards.
