March has been an exciting month as I got back behind the handlebars and started to enjoy some spring racing again.
I kicked off my season at Bernerda UCI 1.1 in the middle of the month with pretty low expectations after a turbulent recovery. Mentally, it was a challenge — especially riding fast in the bunch on descents and fighting for position, given my crash happened in similar conditions. I knew those first races would be tough, but they’re all part of rebuilding confidence, and I’m determined to push through that fear.
On the last weekend of March, I picked up a last-minute entry at Kennel Hill National B to get more time riding at speed in a bunch before heading back out to Europe. Unfortunately, a mechanical just 15 minutes in cut the day short.
The plan over the next few weeks is to get stuck into local crits and road races to keep building confidence and race sharpness ahead of returning to France at the end of April.
Overall, not the results I was hoping for, but a valuable month of progress. I’m starting to feel like myself again in the peloton post-accident, and I’m looking forward to getting back to racing with the team 😊
